Understanding roles and permissions
The four roles
| Role | Can manage billing | Can manage members | Can export | Can view data |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Owner | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Admin | ✗ | ✓ (per workspace) | ✓ | ✓ |
| Analyst | ✗ | ✗ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Viewer | ✗ | ✗ | ✗ | ✓ (read-only) |
Key points
- There is exactly one Owner per account — the person who created it. Ownership can be transferred in Settings → Account.
- Admin can manage members within their assigned workspaces, but cannot access billing or other workspaces they're not a member of.
- Analyst is the standard role for marketing team members — they can view all data and create exports, but can't change account settings or invite new users.
- Viewer is read-only — can view dashboards, reports, and customer data but cannot create, export, or change anything.
Roles are per-workspace
A member can have different roles in different workspaces. For example, an agency team member might be an Admin in their primary client workspace but a Viewer in other workspaces. Set per-workspace roles in Settings → Team → [Member name] → Workspace access.
